Before Christmas Craziness!!

Whew! I survived the last week of school before Christmas! All teachers will tell you that is THE craziest time of the year! I had a great time with my kiddos though and was very blessed by all their generosity! My favorite are those homemade gifts that come from the heart! I had a hard time thinking of something to give my students for Christmas but I came across the idea of these dry erase boards online somwhere. They turned out super cute and the kids LOVED them!!

Christmas Around the World

Wow! It seems like last week should have the been the week before Christmas break! The kids were CRAZY!! Well, next week will be fun but definitely busy!! We are out on Thursday, having a perfomance and watching Polar Express that day and an Aussie Christmas Party on Wednesday! I am doing a Christmas Around the World Unit that I found here: http://www.bainbridgeclass.com/christmasaroundtheworld.htm
I did it last year and the kids LOVED it! There are freebies at this site and then you can purchase the Powerpoint that goes with it on TPT.  Since I only have 4 days teaching and not much time in those days I kind of consolidated the unit to fit into my schedule.
On another note, my heart is heavy for the tragedy that has just happened in CT. I know all teachers are feeling it too. There are just no words that can describe how sad I feel. My thoughts and prayers to go out to all the victims and their families.

I hope you all have a fabulous teaching week, despite all that has happened, just keep them in your prayers too.....

Same Topic Different Text

Okay, so I think I have it figured out. If you click on the buttons they will take you to my favorite blogs. Just finished lesson plans for this week I found an awesome unit on Comparing Same Topic Different Text for Standard RI. 2.9
http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/cowboys-castles-interacting-with-156.html
It looks great and I already have all the books needed, ordered them on Amazon.com last week. I am also going to be doing some Santa Letters that I found on one of my fav blogs
http://stepintosecondgrade.blogspot.com/ where you can find some freebies but I also bought her Christmas unit on TPT. You should check that out too, great stuff! I will continue with Daily 5 and am using some books from Australia. My school is an International School and each grade level studies a different county. Second grade is Australia so we are learning a lot of great stuff. If you have any ideas for lessons or activities on Australia please let me know. Have a great teaching week!!
